Functions & Responsibilities
- Determine the estimated costs for contracting projects
- Develop strategies to improve our efficiency in current heat treatment processes
- Determine equipment and human resources required for each project
- Engineer calculations required for expansion, temperature and thermal inputs
- Establish efficient processes with customers
- Assist Account Managers and Regional Managers with the preparation of quotations and technical approach
- Develop bids for customers in the required time frames
- Effectively determine the bid strategies required for the company to be successful, as well as plan and coordinate requirements on large technical projects
- Assist corporate and project management teams to determine what types of projects to bid, strategies, techniques, etc.
- Review all final estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness, prior to formal quotation
- Provide technical assistance in negotiating contracts, change orders, etc. as required
- Maintain positive client relations and work with the Project Development Team to pre-qualify and secure business opportunities
Qualifications & Desired Attributes
- 2–5 years previous experience in estimating environment (Heat treatment related preferred)
- Post secondary education/certification in related field (Engineering or Construction Management preferred)
- A sound understanding and technical foundation of various disciplines related to estimating
- Understanding of cost accounting applications in manufacturing processes, inventory costing with experience in indirect costs, analysis, and reporting systems
- Detail oriented with strong analytical, math, and computer skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, SmartDraw, and Adobe
- Ability to plan, organize and complete estimating work independently
- Ability to complete work within fixed deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally in relation to internal and external customer needs
- Experience working on large scale projects
- Valid driver’s license
